In our effort to genuinely and clearly convey the essence of what we believe, we found that theologian C. Baxter Kruger expressed it most effectively - "Jesus Christ is the heart of what we believe. I mean, the very identity of Jesus Christ as the Father’s eternal Son incarnate, and as the One anointed in the Spirit, and as the One in and through whom all things were created and sustained is the heart of what we believe. Our intention is to rethink everything we thought we knew in the light of this Jesus Christ."
We have been on a journey of rethinking a lot of what we were taught by religious tradition most of our lives. Through it all our motto has been to "hold tightly to Jesus and loosely to everything else." Do we think we have all the answers or that we've arrived at all there is to know of Him? NOT AT ALL. The more we unlearn and relearn the more we realize we have more questions than answers. But we continue to seek Christ, because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Honduras captured Kevin’s heart on his second ministry trip to the nation in 2004. Having travelled to Honduras over 30 times through the years many lifelong friendships were built and much ministry was done. Through one of those friendships Kevin and Cynthia were introduced and got married in 2014. Cynthia is of Honduran descent and lived in Honduras for several years as a child. She has many family members in Honduras, some of which are involved in ministry and some in farming.
Kevin surrendered his life to Christ as a little boy and felt the call of God on his life to full-time ministry at the age of 17. He attended several ministry schools and attained his Bachelor's degree in Practical Ministry from Logos University. Following many years dedicated to evangelism and teaching, he recognized the importance of learning regenerative agriculture, both for his family's benefit and for the mission field. He has since been trained in Aquaponics and has a Permaculture Design Certificate from Oregon State University.
Cynthia also surrendered her life to Christ at an early age. She dedicated many years to serving diligently in any role needed within the church. With a background in Business Management, she held numerous managerial roles over the years.
After much prayer and discussion we felt the Lord leading us to move to Honduras full time in 2020 and made the move in early 2021. We are so thankful to the faithful prayer and financial partners of The Garden Mission who help make this ministry possible.
